this record is a collaboration between myself and the premiere music historian professor of the midwest, Andy Hollinden. we each wrote half the material and co-produced the entire body of work. recording, mixing, and mastering were all done at reel recording. about 100 years of songwriting and recording have gone into the making of this album and what you will find upon listening is an array of tones and production techniques from the golden eras of recording music. from big harmonies to classic restraint to provocative, original songwriting, this record is an exploration of studio production and record-making as an art form.

this a solo release of mine from 2009. "Livin' Far Out", features twelve original acoustic country blues songs. i recorded, mixed, and mastered it all myself. this project was unique because i played and sang each song at the same time during recording, with no editing at all. i recorded it to tape and transferred the sound to a digital domain through Crane Song HEDD-192 A/D converters. this album is an exploration of the country blues style, minimalism, and performance-oriented recording.
